2021 Football Season: The Indomitable REDS

The 2021/2022 football season is underway and I can say that we are all enjoying ourselves watching our favourite football clubs in display. Did I say, "we are all enjoying"? Well, I think some fans aren't enjoying themselves because their favourite football club may not be doing very well as expected of them. Example is Manchester United; the Red Devils seem to not be impressing their fans. All the same, that's football for you; there are good days and there are also bad days for every football club. It is then expected of a true fan to keep sticking to his/her club.

The English Premier League where we have Liverpool FC is already 11 weeks gone with Chelsea topping the table with 25 points while Liverpool FC who is yet to lose any game in the league sits second place with 22 points. Also, the most competitive football tournament in Europe, the UEFA Champions League is underway with the group stage round almost wrapping up. Liverpool FC sits first with 10 points in group B, the supposed group of death now turned group of victory.

The Champions League Group B is comprised of Liverpool FC, FC Porto, Athletico Madrid and AC Milan. To be honest, I was a bit scared when the grouping was done because all the teams here are top-notch and in great form as well. However, I was confident that the REDS will scale through and they didn't just scale through, Liverpool FC have scaled in the group in a more beautiful and admirable manner.

The REDS have played 4 games in the Champions League group stage without losing in any of the outings. They also had a dramatic 2-2 draw with Athletico Madrid in their first-leg in Spain while thrashing them 2-0 at Anfield to serve them a revenge. In the same manner, Jurgen Klopp's men defeated both Ac Milan and FC Porto in their first-leg meeting. As it stands, Liverpool have already qualified for the Round-of-16 stages.

This is the Liverpool FC we knew and this is the Liverpool we want to keep seeing. Recent records show that Liverpool FC are unbeaten in 25 games so far in all competitions. I would say that Klopp is doing a remarkable and impressive work with the squad. Last season wasn't so good for the Merseyside Reds because of injury problems and I just hope critical injury cases doesn't hit the squad because it has a way of destabilizing the whole team set-up.

Speaking of individual performances, we see the likes of Mohammed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota are all stunning in every passing game. Specifically, Mohammed Salah has been on the headlines consistently for weeks following his world class goals and displays on the pitch. This has even made him to be seen as a competitor in the Balloon d'Or race and I'll be so glad to watch him win.

More so, Salah and Mane recently broke and also set new records in the English Premier League. Both Salah and Mane have scored past 100 goals in the league while Salah becomes the first African player to score the highest number of goals in the English Premier League. Roberto Firmino as well who in past seasons experienced goal drought has been seen netting many goals this season. This is very remarkable and impressive if you ask me. And I really do hope they continue to stay in this form.

Currently, Mohammed Salah is the highest goal scorer in the English Premier League with 10 goals while Sadio Mane has 7 goals and both Firmino and Jota, 4 goals each.

My 2021/2022 Predictions for Liverpool FC

The Reds team looks very strong and stable so far and I strongly believe they'll take home some silverwares either in the domestic league or at the international level. It might be too early to say that they'll win the EPL trophy because currently Chelsea is doin very well together with Manchester City. But that notwithstanding, the Reds will be a strong Challenger if not the winners of the 2021/2022 English Premier League should they continue to be in this hot form.

On Sunday, Liverpool will be hosted by West Ham United for their 11th game in the Premier League and I hope they will take all three points.
