The champions league is back. I hope everyone is as excited as I am. For today, there are a lot of exciting games but I will review a few. Last week the teams who played on Wednesday will be the ones to play today. This means the teams which played on Tuesday will play Tomorrow which is Wednesday. The games I will be reviewing are written below.
The first leg of this fixture was played at Stanford Bridge. It felt like Chelsea neutralised Ac Milan in the middle of the park. Because of this, they couldn't progress the ball forward into the box of Chelsea. In the whole of the game, Ac Milan had just four shots with 1 shot on target. This was quite surprising for the Seria A champions.
Chelsea on the other hand couldn't have asked for better performance. They seem to have put their bad performances against Dinamo and Salzburg. They are playing good and I think they would do well today too. Over the weekend they rested most of their starting 11 and porter went with an 11 which surprised a lot of us. Well, these 11 who we taught could be bullied by wolves ended up bullying wolves.
Today I see a different Milan side who are motivated to come into this match and win. We must remember that Chelsea is feeling good. They feel good and they will surely want the win. Both teams know that losing all 3 points today means that it will be harder for them to qualify out of their group.
This is because Salzburg are up against Dinamo and it doesn’t look like too much of a challenge for them. Salzburg winning today will mean that they will still hold their top position with 8 points leaving Milan and Chelsea with 4 points each. If any of Chelsea or Milan win, it will mean he will have 7 points leaving the other in third with just 4 points.
Let’s see how this goes. For this match I feel Milan can cause an upset cause they need to redeem themselves after that disastrous display at London in the first leg. My prediction for this is a 2-1 win in the favour of Ac Milan.
The reverse fixture ended with a 2-1 win to real Madrid. Real Madrid bossed the game but it's only unfortunate that they couldn't get a lot of goals. This time round they played at the Bernabeu but the Shakhtar defenders couldn't handle Rodrygo, Vinicius and Benzema.
Shakhtar on the night scored with their first shot on target. As you know real Madrid seems to sleep down whenever they go up easily; at least that's what people say. I didn't think they slowed from because they went up easily. I think the goalkeeper of Shakhtar was very good on that day.
This time around am expecting a different scene. From the camp in Madrid, we expect some rotations in the starting eleven as usual. From the press conference, Carlo Ancellote said, Karim, will start. In his words, he said something like Vinicius will be rested. As you know the Classico is this weekend and the league too is important. I expect Madrid to boss this game as they did at the Bernabeu. The last time Madrid played away to Shakhtar they won by 5 goals to nil.
Am expecting a lot of goals in this one. So I a giving it a 4-0 win to real Madrid.
I was not suprised when Sevilla were beaten by Atm in the league but I was surprised when they allowed Dortmund to put 4 past them in the first leg of their champions league encounter. Don’t get me wrong, Dortmund have been shit in their own league, they struggle to beat teams and they loose even after they take the lead. Beating Sevilla at their own backyard meant something and now I hope there can be a reaction from these set of players.
As we know it, over the weekend Dortmund came back 2 goals down to draw with Bayern Munich. Sevilla drew with Athletic Club after sacking their manager. I think they did a good job cause Athletic club have been super good so getting a draw after so many bad performances is something good.
From all indications Dortmund need to win this to qualify to the knockout stages of the champions league. If Dortmund beat Sevilla today they will have 9 points behind City who have 9 points currently and are facing København at 16:45 today. Man City winning today will automatically qualify them for the knockout stage.
If Sevilla have any hopes of qualifying today they need to win away at Dortmund. Dortmund have been super energetic and motivated after their hard earned draw with Bayern. I think Dortmund will win this quite easily. My prediction for this is a 2-1 win for Dortmund.
