Manchester United hosted bitter rival, Liverpool in their 207th derby match. Despite the fans' revolt again, the game when on.

Liverpool started on the front foot and felt they should have gotten ahead when Bailly handled the ball from a block inside the penalty area. The VAR checked and saw nothing wrong with it.

United should have gotten ahead too in the 4th minute when Alisson fumbled a pass and Cavani got to it. Cavani shot wide rather than into the net which was a huge let off for Alisson.

United drew the first blood in the 10th minute when Wan Bissaka raced into the box. He found Bruno Fernandes whose outside the foot shot was diverted into the net by Matt Phillips which registered the 1,000th own goal in the Premier League.

The referee gave Liverpool a penalty when Bailly gave the touch on Phillips in the box. The referee consulted with VAR and got to know he got the ball first and it was the follow through that brought down Phillips. He reversed his decision afterwards.

In the 33rd minute, Diogo Jota had a thumping strike saved by Henderson and the resulting corner led to the goal where Phillips' strike was flicked into the net by Diogo Jota to draw Liverpool level, 1-1.

Pogba came close in the 40th minute when he showed a bit of his brilliance before unleashing a shot that could only find the side of the net. Liverpool got ahead in the 3rd minute of the added time in the first half when Pogba gave a free kick away. The resulting free kick was taken and Firming got on the end of the ball, leaving Pogba behind to head home. Having never scored against United and having never scored in 15 games, he buried his header in a brilliant fashion to give Liverpool the lead before the whistle for half time went.

Liverpool got their 3rd goal just after the restart when Henderson fumbled Alexander Arnold's shot and Firmino was on hand to pounce and score his second on the night. He really stepped up for someone who hasn't scored since January. United are crumbling as it is for this game.

Jota should have punished United in the 59th minute to make it 4 when he was played in. He went for power rather placement when Firmino found him. He struck the post rather than finding the back of the net.

United reduced the deficit in the 68th minute when Cavani and Rashford combined well to finally set Rashford up. He managed to squeeze the ball through and he scored, 3-2. United should have been level after a goal mouth scramble but Liverpool got off.

Rashford wasted another chance just after Mane couldn't get his at the other end too. Henderson was too quick for Mane and he blocked the ball with his feet. Rashford should have passed the ball after doing the hard work to beat Phillips but he went for the goal himself and got the side netting.

United did everything to get back into the game but another individual error from Matic cost them and Salah raced clear on goal to slot home with Henderson rooted on the spot.

Rashford missed the chance to make it 3 for United but he fired wide despite being one on one with the goalkeeper. The game ended 4-2 and Liverpool won to keep their European dream alive.
