Well, we got our first win of the season against Watford yesterday and although not a classic performance, it was enough. It has to be said though, Watford were dreadful but one thing I did notice was the size of Danny Rose, he is built like a brick shithouse!
Scum continued their recent run of quality home form by scraping a draw against a poor Everton side. Grandaldo will not be happy next season when he isn't playing in Europe lol
And our game, Brighton v Arsenal ended 0-0 which after watching the highlights last night was totally undeserved. Brighton should have won the game easily. The Arsenal resurgance has soon un-resugranced!!
But on to to day, and we are going to visit the 2nd biggest game of the weekend...
I am sad to say that I think even at this early part of the season, Chelsea have one hand on the title and this game will be a battle for the runners-up spot.
Liverpool haven't been as good as they were 18 months ago and certainly have th epotential to slump in the same way they did last year. City are maintaining their form but at this stage, doesn't seem to be quite at the sme clinical level as Chelsea's.
Liverpool will gain be without Trent Alexander-Arnold as well as Thiago and Harvey Elliot who are long abscentees. Their win against Porto was little more than a training game but it will have allowed them to stay sharp and work on a few tactics.
City lost to PSG midweek but it was close and a great game and hopefully Pep will have forced his team to put this to the back of their minds as they walk out at Anfield.
No Ilkay Gundogan but they have plenty of players who can bag goals but in a game in which the slightest of margins will be the difference between taking nothing or three points, I'd have preferred to see him in the team.
This is going to be a great game of football and worth a late night for me, especially if Klopp stays off the pitch and stops telling the referee what to do!
Prediction: Liverpool 1 : 2 Man City - First goal scorer: Jesus
Simply write the name of the FIRST GOALSCORER and the CORRECT SCORE as a comment. The competition closes 5 minutes before kick-off which is 17.30 BST (17.30 UTC)
The Small Print
In the first goal scorer competition, own goals do not count. In the correct score competition, it's the score after 90mins. Extra time and penalties do not count and the pot for each competition will roll over if there is no winner. If more than one person chooses the same first goal scorer or correct score, the prize is shared, and everyone gets a little upvote! It seems I also need to add, one entry per person. Don't forget the new rule that only people with a rep of 50 or above are eligible to enter unless they have been approved. The bonus will be added to any winnings ONLY if Leeds United win and/or Man U lose and all pay-outs will never exceed 50% of post pay-out. Other bonuses are paid out at my discretion.
And the Winners Were...
Ooh-la-la just the one winner today and it is of course, Monsieur @chrisparis! The jackpot was 5500 and as Leeds lost, its doubled to 11000 tokens so well done mate, I'll put you down for the same today? ;-)
Annnnnnnnnnnd, that's your lot for today. Have a blessed Sunday and enjoy the game later today. Catch you all back here tomorrow if I can find a decent game although its another stupid International break so I might just leave it until the proper football is back!
