Whoops. Scotland played to form last night and took a bloody nose from Croatia as they made a whimpering exit from Euro 2020 and in the process, allowed Croatia to leapfrog into 2nd as the Czech Republic lost by a solitary goal to England.
Let's be honest. England have hardly been impressive in their first three games, as usual, putting in workmanlike performances and just doing enough. All this will have to change if they want to progress beyond the quarters however as they will have to face either France, German, Portugal or Hungary depending on the outcome of tonight's final Group F results.
Also completed tonight will be Group E with everything to play for as a loss by the lethargic and goal-shy Spanish will see them say goodbye before the quarters start after a two-day rest period.
Anyway, for today's game, we will go back to Group F and the crunch match between Portugal and France...
@nathen007's Prediction
As well as Spain facing a possible early exit, what might have once been considered unthinkable, the same fate may just befall existing holders, Portugal!
Before the game kicks off, Portugal will know whether they need to win or have enough points to go through as one of the top 4 third placed teams. If they need to win, they will have to throw the kitchen sink at the game. France are through whatever but keeping their top-spot will be important as to their opponents in the quarters.
Portugal's loss against Germany, letting in 4 goals in the process highlighted some serious defensive frailties, not helped by the continued absence due to injury of Joao Felix and Nuno Mendes who haven't made an appearance yet.
Favourites France have a full squad to choose from and although hitting the net as often as they'd like will have watched The Portugal v Germany game and possibly found the key unlocking the Portuguese defence.
I'm predicting and early bath for the Portuguese in Ronaldo's final major tournament.
Prediction: Portugal 1 : 3 France - First goal scorer: Benzema
The Winners were...
No one again yesterday. You guys have lost your mojo along the way but I think tonight, in what will be a closely fought contest, someone will be getting it right today!
