Shush - Darwin Nunez gets the job done in 45 minutes

You know what? When people tell you " it's just a pre-season/uncompetitive game", it's only because they haven't watched their team win in those kinda games. Haha.

Seriously, after the first pre-season game we played against Manchester United which ended in a sorta disgrace, I also said "it's just an uncompetitive game" but after the performance, we displayed today against a lesser opponent, I just can't believe the type of joy and excitement rushing through my vein.

At this point, even if a cup of tea is what is up for grab, all I care for is a win and a fabulous display from my team. For the record, the game in question is the one Liverpool played against Rb Leipzig. The game ended 5-0 in favour of Liverpool.

We will talk dive into Liverpool's brilliant display in a minute because they did very well in that game, but let's look at the funny interpretation we (footie fans, pundits and co) give pre-season games.

We all see pre-season games from two angles, don't we?

We usually see these games in the form that if your team win, it becomes significant but if your team are on the losing side, you take it as an insignificant game. Haha. That's funny. By the way, the truth lies in between.

I know all the goals scored now or the wins or losses will remain insignificant when the season begins. These are friendly games and I was ready to take whatever comes outta each game, but when Liverpool lost by 4 unreplied goals to Manchester United, it just didn't feel right.

Many questions were asked about the readiness of the team to embrace the upcoming season. People were questioning the money spent to get some fresh legs into the team. Some also said the renewal of Salah's contract will hunt Liverpool. Hmmm.

I'm not surprised about any of those things. I get it. I truly get the point because I know football fans all over the world to be unbelievable talkative. Haha. Well, now that I've watched the lads get a convincing win, it feels right to be a winner.

Check out my post-match review of the game

I missed the entire first half of the game because I was busy with other stuff but I got back just in time to watch every bit of the second half of the game.

What a joy it was to watch some competitive football. Lol. I saw so many sumptuous passes and ruthless finishes in the second half of the game. Check out this score sheet.

By the lofty standards we use in measuring the importance of football games, many can say that this game means nothing and they will be right about it. But, it also means everything.

Just to put this into context, these are a few of the notifications I'm getting from YouTube channels.

The football world is already buzzing with talks about Nunez and how he won the match ball in this game after scoring 4 goals out of the 5 that were scored by Liverpool.

The trending page on my Twitter account is also buzzing with regards to this 'pre-season game. Haha.

Everything I saw from the players was satisfactory, especially from Nunez and Carvalho, the fresh legs of the team. Both lads were pressing high and making runs in the backline of Leipzig players. I also like how they are very conscious of their defensive duties. Elliot was also impressive.

By the time I saw the second goal scored by Nunez, two minutes after his goal from the penalty spot, I knew that the damn pre-season game was dead and buried. Lolz

Looking forward to the season proper.

Thanks For Not Missing Any Full-stop Or Comma
