Leeds 1 - 6 Liverpool: Any thoughts on Trent's new role in Liverpool's midfield?

I've been a devotee of Jurgen Klopp and I've said that he's the answer to whatever problem we faced in the past, but our performance this season has made me to wonder if that's still the case.

The series of results we've seen this season in addition to our failure to excel across all competition has led to a crisis of confidence amongst the fans and it's also visible in the team's performance.

While we have a lot of issues that still has to be ironed out in Liverpool, I can't help but use this moment to recognize the brilliance we saw in tonight's game against Leeds United.

Leeds United 1 - 6 Liverpool

What a brilliant game of football. It was truly exceptional with several moments that made me jump with excitement. I genuinely can't recall the last time I felt this excited while watching a Liverpool game. Even the substitutions which were done in the 81st minute of the game gave me a feel-good vibe.

Who knows? What if we go on a winning streak until the end of the season? Will there be a world where we can manage to qualify for next season's Champions League? Haha.

Time will tell...

We take it one performance at a time. I've been looking at the performance I saw from the lads this night and I think we can still manage to get some fairly decent results before the end of this season. We just need to continue feeding Trent whatever liquid he's been sipping because the young lad has been hot in recent times. I'm not even kidding.

I watched Trent tonight in his new adaptation to a midfield role and it felt like we signed a new midfielder. Trent bossed that midfield like crazy. His passes were sumptuous and the assists were ruthlessly created.

When I think about the kinda players that came off the bench for Liverpool in tonight's game... That's something we've been missing for most of this season. Imagine having the likes of Nunez, Luis Diaz and Thiago Alcantara as substitute players. Injury has really done us dirty. I just wish we will have a fully healthy squad from now to the rest of the season.

For tonight's game, this is what the events look like;

Anyone that puts his spoon in the right hole can easily see that we started the second half in a very sluggish way after getting 2 goal lead in the first half of the game. Consequently, we ended up gifting them a consolation goal 2 minutes into the second half. That was the sting we needed to get back into the game and the rest, as they say, is history.

  • Do you think there is still any hope for Liverpool to qualify for next season's Champions League?

  • What do you think of Trent's new role in Liverpool's midfield?
