I will start this off by saying, I absolutely HATE to see this happen to Urban Meyer and his ole Finger Pistol Swinging self. But the Jacksonville Jaguars have released their statement regarding the release of Urban Meyer, having Darrell Bevell serve as the Teams Interim coach for 2021 .
Hey, lets not Kick a Man while he's dahn. We all thought that Timmy Tebow was going to be a great tight end. In all Seriousness, growing up in Ohio, where football was my Life, it was hard to not Love the Guy. He was born Here (Toledo, OH), Started his Collegiate coaching Career at THE Ohio State University as a Graduate Asst. just to Finish it off in the same spot, having NO CLUE what it means to lose. He never had a Single losing season until this year. Yeah , he had one rough Year in Florida, which caused the man so much stress , it caused serious health problems and he retired. Remind you , he still won 3 more games than he lost that year going 8-3. Sure, he caused some heartache for the OSU fans in 2006, after completely just wiping the floor with the Buckeyes. All that can be forgiven when you fast forward to 2018 , and Meyer has Coached that same team he started his College journey with , to a 7-0 career against Michigan . Lets be honest here , to Ohio State Fans , the fact he Ran up the score 62-39 in 2018 , mixed with that 7-0 record , means more to them than the National Championship and Big 10 Championships.
The dude is truly good at coaching the football .... At the College level at least. We haven't seen the transition work in the past too many times , and I really didn't see this one working from the Beginning. It wasnt so much Urbans coaching "style" and planning, but the man literally cant handle losing . Now say he could have Gotten with a solid team already , which would be rare in my eyes as I dont see a Winning team looking for Head Coaches, MAYBE Urban could have made it worked. But come on, I feel like we all saw this coming since Week 3. Especially once that USC job opened up, and the rumors of him leaving to go back to college, still be in nice weather year round. Whether he was actually going there, kinda doubted that. But mentally I had accepted the Meyer, was aht. Theeeen the Jags go to London and win. Did Pistol Pete learn how to coach in the NFL? Nah, just a fluke. Jags are still dead. There is a whole list of very, very questionable decisions he made in the very short, 11 months, time of him being an NFL coach. Again, I hate to see all this. Its just then Urban goes and decides to not travel with the team to go out to his Bar, but not only that, he brings his finger gun with him and is seen trying to Shiv it, into a volunteering young woman. Come on Urb. There was no fixing, trying, coaching anything after that. More reports coming out about him following the firing. It just keeps getting uglier and uglier for this Pistol wielding man
I genuinely hope him, his health, and his family make it through all this. Hey, it was a good run Urban.
