CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Benzema – On point for Real Madrid once again

Real Madrid were 2-1 victors over Shakhtar Donetsk in a thrilling Champions League Group D fixture.
Although Carlo Ancelotti's men never really appeared convincing throughout game, the French striker was once again ready to save his team's blushes as he netted a brace past the Shakhtar Donetsk team.

Highlights on the game:

It was another important victory for Real Madrid especially after they had defeated Shakhtar Donetsk by 5 goals to nothing in their initial encounter.
Los Blanco's first goal came after Brazilian winger Vinicius Jr, stole the ball from a Shakhtar defender, while the Ukrainian team were trying to play out from the back.
A one time pass to Karim Benzema, saw the French man through on goal as he made an easy tap, to put Real Madrid one goal ahead.

Shakhtar's reply:

After the first goal from Karim Benzema in the 15th minute, Shakhtar Donetsk showed that they still got it in them few minutes before halftime.
A stunning counter-attacking move was finished off by striker Fernando, to pull his team level.
Nonetheless, at the wake of the second period, Real Madrid proved why they were the better side on paper. A brilliant combination between Vincius, Casemiro and Benzema saw the French striker net his second for the night.
And Real Madrid were able to see off the game by 2 goals to 1.

Conclusion:

In a post match press conference, striker Karim Benzema highlighted that his team struggled due to the fixture pile-ups and injury crisis they have had in recent times.
However, it felt great to emerge victorious and they would be looking to continue such form.
