Der Violettgraue Eulenspinner ist ein Nachtfalter aus der Familie der Eulenspinner und Sichelflügler (Drepanidae). Als Lebensraum dienen lichtdurchflutete Laubwälder mit einem hohen Anteil von Eichen (Quercus). Der Falter legt seine Eier an die Knospen von Eichen. Das Ei überwintert und die Raupe schlüpft im folgenden Jahr und ernährt sich von den Blättern. Die Verpuppung erfolgt am Boden in der Streuschicht. Der Falter schlüpft im Hochsommer und fliegt bis Ende Oktober in einer Generation.
The Oak lutestring moth is a moth from the family of Drepanidae. Its habitat is light-flooded deciduous forests with a high proportion of oak trees (Quercus). The moth lays its eggs on the buds of oak trees. The egg hibernates and the caterpillar hatches the following year and feeds on the leaves. The pupation takes place on the ground in the litter layer. The moth hatches at the height of summer and flies in one generation until the end of October.
