Jetzt in den grauen Wintermonaten hat das Fotografieren eine etwas untergeordnete Bedeutung fßr mich. Mir bleibt nur das Wochenende, um in der Natur zu wandern. Meistens erkunde ich die Wälder rund um Kreuzwertheim und Schmetterlinge spielen fast immer eine Rolle. Dazu aber später mehr.
Now in the gray winter months, photography has a somewhat secondary importance for me. I only have the weekend to hike in nature. Mostly I explore the forests around Kreuzwertheim and butterflies almost always play a role. But more about that later.

Bei solch einem neblig trßben und nasskalten Wetter ein Motiv als solches zu erkennen ist schon eine Herausforderung und gelingt natßrlich nicht immer. Aber mit etwas Geduld und den Blick fßr Details lässt sich auch im Winter ein geeignetes Fotomotiv finden. So waren es in diesem Fall Wassertropfen im Moos.
To recognize a motif as such in such foggy and cold and wet weather is quite a challenge and of course not always successful. But with a little patience and an eye for detail, a suitable photo motif can be found even in winter. So it was in this case water drops in the moss.

Auch im Winter findet man Pilze im Wald. Die wenigsten davon sind essbar. Als Fotomotiv sind sie allerdings in jeder Form willkommen. Zu dieser Jahreszeit bin ich nicht wählerisch bei der Auswahl meiner Motive.
Even in winter you can find mushrooms in the forest. The fewest of them are edible. However, as a photo motif they are welcome in any form. At this time of year, I am not picky in the selection of my motifs.

Zarter Helmling â Frosty bonnet

Dieser Pilz ist winzig. Allerdings hebt er sich durch seine helle Erscheinung deutlich vom grĂźnen Moos ab. Mit den Wassertropfen bedeckt ist er fĂźr mich natĂźrlich willkommen und der Aufbau von meinem Stativ hat sich auf jeden Fall gelohnt.
This fungus is tiny. However, its bright appearance makes it stand out clearly against the green moss. Covered with the water drops, he is of course welcome to me and the setup of my tripod was definitely worth it.

Den ganzen Morgen begleitete mich dichter Nebel so wie leichter Nieselregen. Das Wetter hat mich allerdings nicht von meiner Tour abgehalten. Nach einer langen Woche im BĂźro ist die frische Luft und etwas Bewegung in der Natur genau das Richtige fĂźr mich, um die Akkus wieder aufzuladen.
The whole morning I was accompanied by thick fog and light drizzle. However, the weather did not stop me from my tour. After a long week in the office, the fresh air and some exercise in nature is just the thing for me to recharge the batteries.

Kleiner Frostspanner â Winter moth â
Operophtera brumata (Linnaeus, 1758)
NatĂźrlich bin ich immer auf der Suche nach Schmetterlingen. So konnte ich auch an diesem Tag einen kleinen Frostspanner an einer Rotbuche entdecken. Der Falter fliegt nur nachts und ruht tagsĂźber. Auf meinem RĂźckweg ist mir eine Groppe von Erwachsenen und Kindern begegnet. Sie fragen, was ich den bei diesem Wetter fotografiere. Meine Antwort war Schmetterlinge. Das klang nicht besonders Ăźberzeugend fĂźr die Wanderer. Ein Kind entgegnete mir, im Winter fliegen keine Schmetterlinge. Ich begleitete die Truppe auf meinem Weg zurĂźck. An der Rotbuche mit dem Frostspanner stoppte ich und fragte, ob jemand Interesse hat, einen Schmetterling zu begutachten. Misstrauisch fragte mich eine Frau, wo der den sitzt. Ich entgegnete genau vor ihrer Nase am Baum. Ăberrascht und erstaunt hatte sie ihn nun auch entdeckt. Alle zĂźckten ihr Smartphone um den Falter zu fotografieren. Mit einem breiten Grinsen im Gesicht wĂźnschte ich noch einen schĂśnen Tag.
Of course I am always on the lookout for butterflies and moths. So I could also discover a small frost moth on a copper beech this day. The moth flies only at night and rests during the day. On my way back I met a bullhead of adults and children. They asked what I was photographing in this weather. My answer was butterflies. That didn't sound very convincing to the hikers. One child replied that butterflies don't fly in winter. I accompanied the troop on my way back. At the copper beech with the frost moth I stopped and asked if anyone was interested in examining a moth. Suspiciously a woman asked me where it was sitting. I replied right in front of her nose on the tree. Surprised and amazed, she had now also discovered him. All pulled out their smartphone to photograph the moth. With a big grin on my face I wished them a nice day.
