Esta mañana mientras organizaba y barría mi casa, me topé con una visita inesperada. Con sus alas abiertas, posando, como consciente de su belleza una mariposa me encontré. Envuelta en un halo de misterio, sus hermosas alas me referían a la noche...
This morning while organizing and sweeping my house, I came across an unexpected visitor. With its wings open, posing, as if aware of its beauty, a butterfly I found. Wrapped in a halo of mystery, its beautiful wings referred me to the night...
Sus alas traseras, llevan el sello de una mirada, ojos capaces de guardar los misterios de la noche. Ojos mudos, marrones, ojos de árbol seco, de ceniza, de ámbar, ojos con leves destellos de lucero titilante.
Sus alas desplegadas y su cabeza erguida, era una reina de la noche. Con su capa de gamuza y terciopelo oscuro. (Pubescencia), fina cubierta de velluda estampa, proporcionabale abrigo y protección.
¿De dónde venía? ¿Qué secretos sueños habrían rosado sus alas?
¿Se habría topado con una madre angustiada velando el sueño febril de su hijo? ¿Habría resbalado en el vidrio empañado de una ventana, sofocada por el ardor de unos desaforados amantes?
¿Había corrido peligro su vida? Era tan frágil... Más toda ella, como pueden verla en la fotografía que le tomé es un emblema, de la belleza, de la noche y sus misterios. Sí, me topé con una mariposa nocturna.
Una especie de mariposa muy particular, pues, vuelan de noche y tienen colores algo apagados, en comparación a las especies diurnas, pero que rivalizan en belleza.
Its hind wings bear the stamp of a look, eyes capable of guarding the mysteries of the night. Mute, brown eyes, dry tree eyes, ash, amber, eyes with slight flashes of twinkling star.
Her wings spread out and her head erected, she was a queen of the night. With her cloak of chamois leather and dark velvet. (Pubescence), thinly covered with hairy prints, provided her with shelter and protection.
Where did she come from? What secret dreams would have made her wings pink?
Would he have met an anguished mother watching over the feverish sleep of her son? Would he have slipped on the fogged glass of a window, suffocated by the ardor of some unbridled lovers?
Had her life been in danger? He was so fragile... But all of her, as you can see in the photograph I took of her, is an emblem of beauty, of the night and its mysteries. I did come across a night butterfly.
A very particular kind of butterfly, because they fly at night and have somewhat muted colors, compared to the daytime species, but they rival in beauty.
En comparación con las mariposas diurnas, el grupo parafiletico Heterocera incluye a la mayoría de los lepidópteros del planeta, en donde agrupamos a las comúnmente llamadas polillas, esfíngidos, saturnidos y noctuidos.
Sus hábitos y comportamiento, su actividad es plenamente nocturna, lo que las hace enigmáticas y mucho más interesantes. Si a eso añadimos que, hay familias de mariposas nocturnas que presentan picos de actividad en el crepúsculo o en al atardecer, diríamos que esta mariposa es en sí misma, un poema.
Their habits and behavior, their activity is fully nocturnal, which makes them enigmatic and much more interesting. If we add to that that there are families of night butterflies that present peaks of activity at dusk or at sunset, we would say that this butterfly is in itself, a poem.
Ya que estos lepidópteros se encuentran activos durante la noche, han tenido que adaptarse a las bajas temperaturas que se suelen presentar en ese horario. Es damas y caballeros una brizna de fuego viva y palpitante, capaz de arrastrar en sus alas el calor del día y albergarlo en su alma, para alimentar con su luz las noches más oscuras...
Durante el día, los heteróceros o mariposas nocturnas descansan en lugares donde sean difíciles de distinguir, ya sea en troncos de árboles, follaje o rocas, para camuflajearse y protegerse de los depredadores. Descansan sus aventuras y narran sus historias a las flores, las hojas, al viento cálido de la mañana que se alegra de verlas y de vez en cuando buscan reposar sus alas, en las casas, de algún humano que desee interpretar sus mudanzas.
Por acá anexo una fotografía, que muestra algunas especies de Saturnidos o mariposas nocturnas, que me parecen particularmente hermosas.

De todas esas hermosas Saturnidos la que creo que más se parece a mi hermosa visitante es ésta, la Autumeris banus, descubierta en 1875. Por acá dejo foto de ambas.
