This year the rain came a day earlier, because on April 30 in the afternoon, the rain began.
Alrededor de las 2 de la tarde, el cielo se oscureció, y el olor a tierra mojada se hizo evidente, me encontraba en casa de mi abuela en el mismo centro de la ciudad de Holguín, justo en frente de la emisora radial, Radio Angulo. Comenzó una llovizna y posteriormente las gotas de agua eran más gruesas y abundantes, hasta convertirse en un fuerte aguacero.

El viento era fuerte y la lluvia rugía, y en vez de aminorar, aumentaba, fue así que decidí salir a la calle, para apreciar el torrencial aguacero, para mi sorpresa el agua tapaba prácticamente la calle. ¡Qué hermoso espectáculo! después de tantos meses sin ver el agua correr por las calles holguineras. Fue tanta la lluvia que la cisterna de casa, se llenó completamente.
The wind was strong and the rain was roaring, and instead of slowing down, it increased, so I decided to go out to the street to appreciate the torrential downpour, to my surprise the water practically covered the street. What a beautiful sight! after so many months without seeing water running through the streets of Holguin. The rain was so heavy that the cistern at home was completely full.
Luego de 3 horas de abundante agua, poco a poco fue cediendo la furia de San Pedro; solo se sentía caer el agua de los techos, y los gorriones comenzaron a sentirse, señal de que el aguacero había concluido. De recorrido hacia mi casa, pasé por el parque principal, el Calixto García, todas las edificaciones a su alrededor se encontraban mojadas, las calles parecían ríos y todo se encontraba limpio, como cuando terminamos de limpiar nuestro hogar.
After 3 hours of abundant water, little by little the fury of San Pedro began to subside; we could only feel the water falling from the roofs, and the sparrows began to be heard, a sign that the downpour had ended. On my way home, I passed by the main park, the Calixto Garcia, all the buildings around it were wet, the streets looked like rivers and everything was clean, as when we finished cleaning our home.
