Español Como es tradición, las celebraciones por el fin de año y año nuevo, imponen retos para asegurar los festejos y a su vez hacen renacer tradiciones que forman parte de nuestra forma de vida, no cabe dudas que estos festejos son una buena razón para reunir a la familia, visitar a los amigos y desear a todos mucha salud, prosperidad y éxitos.
En Cuba existen actividades que casi son de obligatorio cumplimiento por cada familia, porque se disfruta haciéndolo, por ejemplo, mi esposa y yo comenzamos hoy día 25 a limpiar la casa, esta tarea no creo, que exista un cubano que no la haga, se dice que hay que terminar el año con la casa limpia para que salga todo lo malo y tengas un año lleno de bendiciones. Es el momento de lavar las cortinas, sacudir telas de araña, recoger los trastes, en fin, dejarlo todo organizado y limpio para poder celebrar sin contratiempos.
Otra de las actividades es crear un muñeco de tela, que representa el año que está terminando y se le prende fuego el 31 a las 12 de la noche como parte de la celebración; otras personas se visten elegantes y toman su maleta de viaje y le dan la vuelta a la casa o hacen un pequeño recorrido, para que en el futuro haya muchos viajes, no puede faltar en este pequeño resumen el cubo de agua, tirar agua al frente de la casa para que llegue la buena suerte.
La cena del 31 se realiza con el cerdo asado, el congris y la buena yuca, acompañado de una ensalada de tomate y lechuga. En los campos del oriente cubano asar un cerdo se convierte en una fiesta, música de distintas naciones a todo volumen, cada cual con la suya, mientras el cerdo da vueltas en la púa o la vara.
