I confess, in my house we are gluttons 🙈 Why deny it? And to top it off, I like to cook and spoil everyone with different dishes. I don't cook much now because my ten month old baby with super chronic mommyitis doesn't allow me to do so much, but when I have a chance I like to do something different in the kitchen with whatever I have available in my fridge. As for protein consumption, I admit I'm more team chicken 🍗 than team meats 🥩 or team 🐟, but today I wanted to recreate a craving that had been making my mouth water for a few days. It's a very basic dish but it's very tasty.
Today I want to show you how I prepared this 'succulent lunch' which consists of a juicy grilled chicken breast bathed in mushroom sauce, steamed rice and french fries. I should mention that the ingredients for this preparation were calculated for only two people: my husband and myself. It is also super easy and quick to make since several of its ingredients were bought ready - open and cook - at the supermarket.
Ingredientes // Ingredients 👩🏽🍳
✓ Dos pechugas de pollo grande y jugosas.
✓ Una cebolla grande.
✓ 1 brick de nata para cocinar.
✓ Una bolsa de papas fritas de corte fino.
✓ Una taza de arroz de tipo vaporizado.
✓ Una lata pequeña de champiñones laminados.
✓ Sal, pimienta y nuez moscada al gusto.
✓ Aceite vegetal.
✓ Ajo en polvo.
✓ Two large, juicy chicken breasts.
✓ One large onion.
✓ 1 brick of cooking cream.
✓ One bag of thin-cut potato chips.
✓ One cup of steamed type rice.
✓ One small can of sliced mushrooms.
✓ Salt, pepper and nutmeg to taste.
✓ Vegetable oil.
✓ Garlic powder.
Preparación // Process 👩🏽🍳
- Sazona la pechuga de pollo a gusto. Yo solo utilice ajo en polvo y sal al gusto. Luego procedí a cocinarla en un sartén con un hilo de aceite vegetal, dorandola por ambos lados. Una vez que está lista, reserva.
Season the chicken breast to taste. I only used garlic powder and salt to taste. Then I proceeded to cook it in a frying pan with a trickle of vegetable oil, browning it on both sides. Once it is ready, set aside.
- Se pica la cebolla finamente en julianas y luego estás a la mitad. Se coloca un sartén a calentar con un hilo de aceite vegetal y se sofríen a fuego medio. Se le coloca sal y pimienta al gusto. Luego se agregan los champiñones y se cocinan por espacio de 10 minutos.
Chop the onion finely into julienne strips and then cut in half. Heat a frying pan with a trickle of vegetable oil and fry over medium heat. Add salt and pepper to taste. Then add the mushrooms and cook for 10 minutes.
- Luego en una olla aparte, se agrega la cebolla y los champiñones sofritos. Luego se vierte la nata para cocinar y se le agrega la nuez moscada. Se revuelve muy bien hasta que tome una consistencia cremosa. Si notas que se torna muy densa esta mezcla, se puede agregar un chorrito de agua o preferiblemente leche líquida. Se cocina por espacio de 10 minutos y se reserva.
Then in a separate pot, add the sautéed onion and mushrooms. Then pour in the cooking cream and add the nutmeg. Stir well until it reaches a creamy consistency. If you notice that the mixture becomes too thick, you can add a splash of water or preferably liquid milk. Cook for 10 minutes and set aside.
- Pues el arroz, más rápido que imposible. Yo adoro el arroz vaporizado por lo sueltecito que queda. Para una taza de arroz, le coloco una y media de agua. Se cocina hasta que se evapore toda el agua y se reserva.
Well, the rice, faster than impossible. I love steamed rice because of how loose it is. For one cup of rice, I add one and a half cups of water. Cook until all the water evaporates and set aside.
- El paso último paso y el más fácil es freír dos puñados de papas fritas y luego se escurren muy bien sobre un plato con servilletas. Se le coloca sal y puedes acompañar con salsa de tomate si lo prefieres. Para el emplatado, coloca la pechuga de pollo a la plancha y vierte dos o tres cucharadas de la mezcla de cebolla y champiñones, sirve el arroz vaporizado como más sea de tu agrado y coloca un puñado de papas fritas para cada comensal. Y listo.
The last and easiest step is to fry two handfuls of french fries and then drain well on a plate with napkins. Add salt and you can serve with tomato sauce if you prefer. For the plating, place the grilled chicken breast and pour two or three spoonfuls of the onion and mushroom mixture, serve the steamed rice as you like and place a handful of french fries for each person. And that's it.
