When you are going to a big city, do you just stay in one place, or explore the whole city? I do like exploring the whole city, but the best part is food hunting. When I visited Kowloon Park recently to see pink flamingos, I stayed until night since I have no other plans that day. On my way back to the station, I was looking for a place to dine. Then I spotted the Food Republic board from outside of the glass window and so I stepped in.
I heard of Food Republic before but never dine in any of its branches. I thought it was a restaurant but actually like a food court. Inside were different food stalls serving different Asian cuisines giving customers different choices. From Hong Kong cuisines to Chinese, Korean, Singaporean, Japanese, and Taiwanese. There are even food stalls for desserts and refreshments. All are complete in one place which makes it hard for me to choose, lol.
In the end, I opted to choose Taiwanese food as I find it appetizing in the photo. But that was another try. The taste wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. Maybe it tastes good for others, but not my preference. The fried chicken was salty as well as the minced pork topped on the rice. The only thing I liked was the soup. However, I had no choice but to finish them since they'll be a waste of money. I should have chosen Japanese teppanyaki instead, or simply the Hong Kong roasted duck.
But I was reminded that "life comes through food." Whatever I have on my plate, I should be grateful because I have them and others out there don't have them. Other people have exerted effort in harvesting, preparing, and cooking, just to serve food to our table.
Just have some thoughts to ponder. I wish you a good day out there.
