The prophet Yahya was the greatest miracle of God to the prophet Zechariah. With a prayer so solemn and unceasing, finally Prophet Zakaria blessed with a descendant named Nabi Yahya.
When the prophet yahya grows up, he replaces the duty of his father preaching until his father dies. Since childhood, the Prophet Yahya is known as a devout and devout child.
The Prophet Yahya was never afraid of repulsion, insults, even threats from people who opposed his preaching. Tirelessly, he invited the Children of Israel to immediately repent to God. He was conscious of his position as an apostle of God. But not used arbitrarily, especially in speaking and conveying da'wah. He still says everything is by Allah's permission.
By the time the Prophet Yahya had just been born, the palestine, then filled with the people of the Children of Israel, was attacked by Roman royal troops. Since then, the palestine has been occupied by the Roman empire and designates Herod as the ruler of the Palestinians. Herod was the son of the great king Herod, who was known for his arbitrary character against others.
Herod wanted to marry his own nephew Herodia to be his wife. The girl was very beautiful. Herod was lucky, his own mother Herodia and her whole family supported her desire to marry Herodia.
However, the plan of marriage herod and herodia was actually strongly opposed by the Prophet Yahya. He denounced the marriage because of the legal basis of Allah Almighty. set forth in the Torah. There it is said that marriage from family relations, although not from one content, the law remains haram.
As said before, the Prophet Yahya was never afraid of anything and anyone. He is only afraid of God. Therefore, he dared to convey anything that really needs to be submitted, even to the ruler of the State though. What the Prophet Yahya said to Herod was immediately widespread throughout the Palestinian territory. It became the subject of gossip.
Finally, Herodia also know the statement and propagation of the Prophet Yahya which states that marriage in a family is haram law. It made Herodia angry at the Prophet Yahya and intend to kill him. Herodia was anxious to be married by Herod, though he knew that herod was his own uncle.
He knew that marrying Herod meant to share Herod's wealth. Therefore, the propagation of the Prophet Yahya is considered to thwart his plans. Herodia with all his ambitions to come to his mother. He asked him to help in drafting the plan of the Prophet Yahya's murder.
Herodia, the beautiful woman with the evil heart, began to use her petty sense. He wants to outwit Herod and tease him with the beauty he has. When his plan is disturbed, he plans to kill the Prophet Yahya. Herodia's evil plan was approved by her mother. In fact, the mother said her daughter was soon carrying out his plan.
Herod who had long liked herodic beauty wanted to immediately ask for her hand. Of course, whatever the wishes of herodia will be fulfilled. Therefore, the plan of killing the Prophet yahya was approved.
Herod immediately issued an order to search for the Prophet Yahya, to arrest and imprison him, then to be killed. That way, Herod soon married herodia.
The soldiers of herod had discovered the whereabouts of the Prophet Yahya. Instantly, they took the Prophet Yahya to Herod to be imprisoned and killed as ordered.
In the custody, the Prophet Yahya kept the commandments of God according to the Law. He did not condemn or hate Herod for having masterminded his abduction. He knew that he would be killed. Furthermore, when the Prophet Yahya was running his worship, his head was caught and the Prophet Yahya was killed.
Such is the abomination that the Children of Israel did, who had no fear of God's wrath. Followers of the Prophet Yahya, including Maryam who had given birth to a son of God's gift named Isa, Taking the body of Prophet Yahya, and buried peacefully.
