Strung up

In the middle of the night, Maria woke up to a low but persistent sound in the middle of her room. It was the first time that he slept in his new house, a very old building located in the heart of the city. Her parents had allowed her to choose her bedroom and by day, it had seemed to her that this one was not so bad.
Confused, she opened her eyes and, looking at the silhouettes that surrounded her in the dark, she caught a glimpse of one that was slightly illuminated by the moonlight that filtered in the window.

His blood ran cold. In front of her bed lay a man, dangling lifelessly from a rope tied to the ceiling.

Maria screamed in terror, so loud that her parents immediately came to see her. When they turned on the light, the deceased had disappeared.

"Surely it was just a bad dream, mijita," her mother reassured her, but she was not so convinced.

With much effort, Maria fell asleep again but the next night, when she heard that horrible noise of something swinging in front of her again, she did not dare to open her eyes. He could feel that the man was still in his room.

The situation was repeated every following night, to the point that the adolescent could not fall asleep. All the time he kept the lights on and kept awake, for fear of that apparition.
His mother, concerned, decided to consult a priest, who, upon hearing what was happening, reflected.

"You say that house is very old?"

"Yes father, very much." My husband just bought it but it is a very old property, who knows how many people have lived there before.
Have you not considered the possibility that this man who appears to your daughter is a lost soul?

"No, father." As you think?

"Next time the girl sees him, tell her to ask why she can't rest in peace."

The mother said this to Maria and, after several sleepless nights, she finally dared to look at the deceased to ask the question.

"I've been dead a long time and my fiancee never found out." She thought I left and abandoned her like a coward.

Upon hearing that, Maria felt sadness for that poor man and promised that she would locate her fiancée to inform her of what had happened.

When dawn broke, the girl told her mother what had happened and together they managed to investigate who was the girl the dead man was going to marry. They found her, now a mature woman and with her own family. After telling her what happened, she couldn't believe what these strangers were saying, but she had to believe them when Maria described the man to her.

"Yes, he was my fiancé," she said with tears in her eyes, "I didn't know he had hanged himself."

Thereafter, the apparitions in Maria's room ceased.
