Heroes Rising - A shot film about teens fighting heroin and opioid addiction

HEROES RISING by Wega Arts
Kids learning filmmaking and changing the conversation about heroin addiction.
Around the country communities are responding to the heroin epidemic. It is grim. It is overwhelming. Resources don’t begin to match the problem.
And attitudes range from punitive to pity, without enough other elements coming into play.
Kids becoming Super Heroes:
Enter Captain Solar and the Helios Corps. ‘Heroes Rising’ is the short film Wega Arts is making with and about teenagers, It is about kids who find a way to tap into their strength by speaking up, by inspiring each other, and by actively working for change in the community. The film combines comic book style graphics, special effects, and live action.
High School kids will be working alongside professional filmmakers as both cast and crew to make the short film ‘Heroes Rising’. Along with learning filmmaking, the kids will have the opportunity to have a positive impact on their peers and their communities.
It all comes down to the value of telling a story in images-learning the steps in planning each scene and breaking down shots. Good stuff!
