Americans keep getting fatter and fatter. We are doing something wrong.

A new study finds that Americans keep getting fatter. 10 years ago, 34% of American adults were obese, but today that number is 40%. Toddlers also gained significantly, from 10% obese 10 years ago to 14% obese today.

This trend should be setting off major alarm bells. Whatever we are doing, we are doing it wrong. Whatever the prevailing health and dietary advice has been these past 10 years, this study is strong evidence that it is wrong.

We should examine what that prevailing advice is and study whether or not people have been following it, whether it's capable of being followed, whether trying and failing is worse than not trying at all, whether other things are going on in the environment or in our food chain or in the pharmaceutical industry that are hindering our ability to follow good dietary advice, whether the best advice is even out there...

What is the best dietary / health advice and why isn't it helping cure the obesity epidemic?
