Shimla - queen of hill station

Being capital of the state of Himachal Pradesh Shimla is situated between shivalik hills and green forest of pine and deodar. It is well known for its victorian architecture which reflects itself in certain areas of Mall and Ridge which is the main reason for tourist attraction.

Christ Church is the 2nd ordest church in Northern India after St. John church in Meerut. The historic church is located on the Ridge and traces its origin back to 1857 with it's exceptional architectural beauty.
Construction was started during 1844 and was completed in 1846 and it has neo gothic style of architecture which attracts thousands of visitors every year.

Jakhoo hill and temple is the highest point of Shimla and it offers scenic views of the snow covered Shivalik ranges and Sanjauli.
Dedicated to lord Hanuman it has 108 foot tall idol of the deity. It is situated at 8000ft above see level.

According to locals the temple stands at the very spot where lord Hanuman rested for a while during his journey to bring the Sanjeevani booti for Lakshman's revival during Lanka war.

Shimla attract lots of visitors due to it's exceptional architectural and beauty.

You can visit a lot of places in Shimla. Some of them are Indian institute of advanced studies, Himachal State museum, Mashobra
And green valley. Green valley is a point situated against snow covered mountainous and lush green forest of pine and deodar. This place is also favourite bollywood location in Shimla.
Bang bang, three idiots, jab we met, gadar ek prem katha are some blockbusters shooted I'm Shimla.

A 100 feet tall National Flag is also at Mall road which you can easily spot in this picture along with lots of old buildings.

This pond is near Central potato research institute at Shimla. Potato research at Shimla formally began on 1st April 1935 with opening of three breeding and seed production stations at Shimla, Kufri and Bhowai under IARI, New Delhi.

Different varieties of potatoes are grown all over this belt for experimental purpose and to meet the requirements of people all over India.
Shimla is also famous for its handicraft shop items which are little bit costly but totally unique. You must visit Shimla once in lifetime.
