Live With Imperfection (Part 1)

Happiness, tranquility and a strong sense of self-worth do not require perfection. The desire for perfection inhibits the ability to develop a positive response to imperfections.  By focusing too much on gaining perfection, it is easy to overlook the joy and contentment gained through acceptance of imperfection. It is important to maintain high expectations, but those expectations must be realistic and attainable. 

The strongest individuals know how to overcome imperfections in their daily lives and still stay positive. They understand that it is small imperfections that account for uniqueness and individuality that helps make our surroundings more interesting. If not for imperfection, it would be extremely difficult to recognize perfection on people and events. 

While the quest for perfection remains strong, experiencing human imperfection brings a certain level of happiness those enjoying perfection may never find. Acknowledging that imperfection exists and learning to deal with it in a positive a manner contributes to a greater understanding of differences. 

Perfection is simply a state of mind. Each culture and society has its own interpretation of perfection and imperfection. Learning to appreciate differences and achievements is far superior to concentrating on shortcomings, Focus on changing the definition of perfection and accept the uniqueness of imperfection. Physical imperfection, like beauty, is only in the of of the beholder. Obsession with perfection is a negative emotion many struggle to overcome.
