I love to ride my bicycle in Novi Zagreb – the suburbs of Zagreb. Most parts of Novi Zagreb are actually socialist era apartment buildings which were built in 60ties and 70ies. So this is a perfect match and natural environment for graffiti and street art in general. What a great way for young people to express themselves and make ugly and grey concrete walls colorful and sometimes meaningful.
Sometimes I get of my bicycle and take a picture of the work I like.

Young artists use various techniques to create art, and to use public spaces to reach wider audience, that otherwise would´t be possible. Is it all great art? No it is not! But neither it is “art” that we see in galleries and other places. At least it is very democratic, and maybe it also has to do with expression inspired by Andy Warhol "In the future, everyone will be famous for 15 minutes",
Often times graffiti is considered a delinquent activity because it is applied either on public spaces or private property, without any consent or legal basis. It is true in some cases, but I think that when performed on otherwise grey and depressing surfaces, it may bring a joy and make our environment more interesting and more appealing.
