***Have you ever come across those videos where they show you almost exact replicas of an object, person or animal and it turns out to be a cake?*** Hello, my beautiful foodie people and lovers of great gastronomic moments! Well, I admit that as a pastry chef, I never cease to be amazed at all the wonderful shapes a cake can take using the right tools and techniques. In this sense, after you cover a cake either with white chocolate ganache, buttercream or fondant, it becomes, practically, a blank canvas where you can make art by creating beautiful paintings in the form of cakes. For example, on a cake it is possible to apply watercolor techniques as well as oil techniques, in the first one using brushes and in the second one using special spatulas. Obviously, to achieve an excellent result requires a lot of trial and error on the part of the pastry chef or confectioner, but I would say that this is our daily routine. ![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmbo3ZyavzwbVoXqqin6uELqC6ASSHVChc2HpWxvKyaMUU/1711208958465.jpg) Last week a client asked me to make a cake for his wife, which had to be painted with oil paints and although I have done some watercolor paintings, I have never painted with oil paints in my life, however I accepted the challenge because the illustration that had the reference cake was abstract and it looked pretty easy. But, before getting to work on this new project, I watched many videos on how to decorate an **Oil Cake** and also visualized myself over and over again making the illustration in question, ***because although some things look easy, they are not always easy, especially when put into practice***. When the time came to show my artistic skills on this huge blank canvas, I prayed to all the saints there are and even though at the beginning it wasn't looking the way I wanted, little by little I gave it an abstract shape, but with a purpose and the truth is that I was happy with the result. ![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmUw3YX2bb5Vp8wyF5HpMtP1wwQTTKhohLWBr8VGkepoME/1711230745665.jpg) On the other hand, this cake was a [Red Velvet](https://ecency.com/hive-120586/@zupasteleria/itvzjnff) cake, filled with [Cream Cheese Frosting](https://ecency.com/hive-120586/@zupasteleria/ceiyukhb) for 30 people that measured about 29 cm high. The topping is a [White Chocolate Ganache](https://ecency.com/hive-120586/@zupasteleria/eejwikuh). I made the spheres with anime/plumavit lined with fondant and the number I made with rice paper and gold shading. By the way, I wanted to record when I was making the abstract figure, but as I was focused on doing a good job, I didn't realize that the camera was not focusing well. ***¿De casualidad te has topado con esos videos donde te muestran replicas casi exactas de un objeto, persona o animal y resulta que es una torta?*** ¡Hola, mi linda gente foodie y amantes de gratos momentos gastronómicos! Bueno, admito que como repostera, no deja de sorprenderme todas las formas maravillosas que puede tomar una torta usando las herramientas y las técnicas adecuadas. En este sentido, después que cubres una torta ya sea con ganache de chocolate blanco, crema de mantequilla o fondant, ésta se convierte, prácticamente, en un lienzo en blanco donde puedes hacer arte creando hermosos cuadros en forma de tortas. Por ejemplo, sobre una torta es posible aplicar técnicas de acuarela así como técnicas en óleo, en la primera usando pinceles y en la segunda usando unas espátulas especiales. Obviamente, para lograr un excelente resultado se requiere de mucho ensayo y error por parte del repostero o repostera, pero yo diría que ese es nuestro día a día. ![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmbo3ZyavzwbVoXqqin6uELqC6ASSHVChc2HpWxvKyaMUU/1711208958465.jpg) La semana pasada un cliente me encargó para, su esposa, una torta la cual había que aplicarle la técnica de pintura al óleo y aunque he hecho algunas pinturas en acuarela, jamás en mi vida he pintado con óleo, sin embargo acepté el reto ya que la ilustración que tenía la torta de referencia era abstracta y se veía bastante fácil. Pero, antes de ponerme a trabajar en este nuevo proyecto, vi muchos videos de cómo decorar una **Torta al Óleo** y además me visualicé una y otra vez haciendo la ilustración en cuestión, ***porque aunque algunas cosas parezcan fáciles, no siempre lo son, especialmente cuando se llevan a la práctica***. Llegado el momento de mostrar mis habilidades artísticas sobre este enorme lienzo en blanco, me encomendé a todos los santos habidos y por haber y si bien al principio no estaba quedando como quería, poco a poco le fui dando una forma abstracta, pero con un propósito y la verdad que quedé feliz con el resultado. ![](https://images.ecency.com/DQmUw3YX2bb5Vp8wyF5HpMtP1wwQTTKhohLWBr8VGkepoME/1711230745665.jpg) Por otro lado, esta torta fue una torta [Red Velvet](https://ecency.com/hive-120586/@zupasteleria/itvzjnff), rellena con [Frosting de Queso Crema](https://ecency.com/hive-120586/@zupasteleria/ceiyukhb) para 30 personas que midió unos 29 cm de alto. La cobertura es una [Ganache de Chocolate Blanco](https://ecency.com/hive-120586/@zupasteleria/eejwikuh). Las esferas las hice con anime/plumavit forradas con fondant y el número lo hice con papel de arroz y matizador dorado. Por cierto, quise grabar cuando estaba haciendo la figura abstracta, pero como estaba enfocada en hacer un buen trabajo, no me die cuenta que la cámara no estaba enfocando bien.
