Love is stronger than hate or indifference. Love is our expression of empathy and care for others. When one hears "love your neighbor", images of religion, charity and television highlights fill our mind. How can we love others in such a hard and ruthless time period?
The scope of our world's problems during COVID-19 are immense, confusing and overwhelming.
What does love for one's neighbor look like during a pandemic? It looks like love and support anytime. We should be knocking on doors, opening up in conversation, sending food to food banks, donating to charities and being a shoulder to cry on. Support is the physical manifestation of caring in our hearts.
In times of lockdown, uncertainty and loss, our natural inclination may be to hunker down and look out for our own interests. This is actually counterproductive. From a selfish perspective, we cannot survive long term without community. Build that strong community with acts of love and support each other during these times. Try it, I guarantee you will enjoy the feeling.
