Many of my stories germinated on those trips.
That is why I decided to tell it through the voice of the most important protagonists I knew: their gymnasts. Of course, coaches, judges, leaders, parents, workers will also appear here.
But it will be the gymnasts themselves who tell their experiences, I will be something like the moderator, a narrator often omniscient, who will contemplate everything, surely, with a nostalgia on the verge of tears.
There will be many temporary breaks, and some intrusions from the narrator, which I will try to control with much discipline.
I want to say, from now on, that it will be difficult for me to tell this story with the serenity and poise that is recommended when it is told; I know that I will bow to the feeling, I know that at some point my hand will tremble with joy, at others with great anger, but both feelings emerge when the love for what has been done all life and the nostalgia for what is lived sit at the same table to talk like two friends who had not seen each other for a long time.
The path will start with one of the greatest representatives of the Venezuelan gymnastics, Werner Hoeger, who appears in the next photo doing a performance on the parallel bars; This was taken at the National Games held in the city of Cumaná, in the year 1975, and belongs to Hoeger's family album, who had the courtesy to facilitate it for me to make this publication.
A true talent, an elegance that would have nothing to envy to the best in the world.
I already have in your possession his testimony, accompanied by images of great historical value, which I will be publishing soon for all of you.
