Gayo Coffee History

 
Arabica varieties dominate the coffee species developed by Gayo coffee farmers. Arabica Coffee Production generated from Gayo Land is Asia's largest Gayo coffee is one of the typical coffee Nusantara Aceh which is quite much favored by various circles in the world. Gayo coffee has a very distinctive aroma and flavor. Most of the coffee is there, bitterness is still left on our tongues, but not so in Gayo coffee. Bitterness is hardly felt in this coffee. The genuine taste of Gayo coffee is found in the fragrant aroma of coffee and it tastes tasty not bitter. There is even a presumption that the taste of Gayo coffee exceeds the taste of Blue Mountain coffee originating from Jamaica. Gayo coffee is produced from smallholder plantations in the Gayo highlands of Central Aceh, Bener Meriah and Gayo Lues. 

The potential land area for Arabica coffee in the three districts of the four districts (Central Aceh, Bener Meriah and Gayo Lues) can reach 130,000-140,000 ha, while the current planting area has reached about 100,000 ha. There is still a chance to develop approximately 40,000 ha more in the three districts. Another thing that is very interesting, from about 100,000 ha of existing planting area, all the coffee garden people. This condition is very beneficial to the people in facing various crisis conditions that hit.
