makes me appreciate human-involved permaculture ecosystems even more. self-regulating mechanisms that adapt to harsh weather patterns like droughts. i quite like the holzer "hügelkultur” idea, where whole logs become the center of a raised garden patch, soaking up excess moisture and slowly releasing during prolonged dry spells.
