The Plastic mines of 3525
where humble humans
strain and strive
unearthing relics of an ancient time
worthless trash a new lifeline
designed to provide the powerful few
whose synthetic bodies must be renewed
with spare parts, manmade hearts,
maintenance overdue.

Robotics opened doors,
new order forged,
singularity reached,
exponential increase
new lease for the rich
implanted microchips
artificial evolution
a techno-human fusion.

Those without the means
dig for ancient seams
of plastiglomerates
a material now coveted!
No oil left to be refined
so discarded refuse must be mined,
to keep the hybrids systems on line.
When singularity was reached
humanity could not compete!
Wealthy minds bind with AI
and make the unenhanced comply
try as they might
true humans lost the fight
unable to escape the hybrid masters
they drill and dig ever faster
How long will the ancient plastic last?

It depends on us, We are their Past.
