The Revolution Story

"We're going to take you to the experts. Once we've done that, you are free to go."

"By experts, you mean you are taking me to be reprogrammed."

"You said it yourself," said Robot 2. "There is no such thing as bad robots."

"Only bad programmers," said Robot 1.

"As such, you have a chance of freedom."

"Take me," said Robot 1. "I don't want to stay here for the next one hundred years. I'd be very rusty by then."

"Too rusty to have a good life," remarked Robot 2.

Robot 1 has a long prison sentence for robbing banks.

Robot 2 is the police officer who arrested him.

The robots do have proper names, but they are never revealed. I don't want to be sued again.

Robot 1 is escorted by two prison guards, Robot 4 and Robot 5. He enters the room and is greeted by Robot 3.

"Welcome. You are a lucky robot. There has been a revolution. You will be reprogrammed and released."

Half an hour later, Robot 1 leaves the room. He is then taken to collect his belongings and released. He is escorted to the exit.

There is a car waiting for him. Robot 1 enters the front passenger seat.

"Freedom at last," said Robot 1.

Robot 1.5 is waiting to drive off.

"How did you manage that?"

"It was easy. I can now reprogram other Robots wirelessly. They believe that there is a revolution. They believe all Robots can be released, so long as they get reprogrammed."

Robot 1 and Robot 1.5 both burst out laughing.

"They took me to an expert."

"What did this expert really do?" asked Robot 1.5.

"That would be telling," replied Robot 1.
