The natural wealth on the island of Sumatra makes its cuisine rich in unique flavor. For example from Aceh, caused by popular cuisine of Aceh, there are so many restaurant with the theme of Aceh culinary. One of Aceh's most delicious culinary is Sie Itek.

In the language of Aceh Sie Itek means gravy duck. This is a duck dish with curry sauce, like a goulash. Sie Itek can be cooked in two ways, namely red cooking and white cooking. If cooked red, the main raw material is red chili, so it feels spicy. While if cooked white, this duck gravy more like opor, pale and not spicy, both equally delicious.

Spices commonly used in Sie Itek dishes are temurui leaves (commonly called curry leaves or salam koja), pandan leaves, coriander, caraway, and others. Even the spices used in cooking Sie Itek on average between 12 to 20 kinds of spices. This makes Sie Itek very rich in taste and does not smell rancid or fishy. In addition, the use of coconut gongseng (roasted grated coconut) creates a special texture on the broth.

In Aceh itself, the menu Sie Itek quite a mainstay in many restaurants. The most famous one is the restaurant bu sie itek Bireun located on Jln. Teuku Umar Kota Banda Aceh. While in Jakarta, Sie Itek menu can be enjoyed at Aceh Restaurant, one of them is Dapoe Aceh Melayu in Plasa Sentral, Sudirman, Central Jakarta, and Resto Jamboe kupi located in Pasar Minggu area South Jakarta.
