The Female Ruddy Darter (Sympetrum sanguineum)

On a twisting twig it landed like a helicopter. When I approached, suddenly it flew again, but a few seconds later it came back again on the same branch. I think that twig is its favorite place.

It is the female Ruddy Darter (Sympetrum sanguineum), a species of dragonfly belonging to the Libellulidae family. Her sex characteristics can be identified based on her golden yellow body and tail. That color distinguishes her from the male Ruddy darter, who is bright red in color.
