The boat launch, the picnic tables, even the campground all have Sonoma County logos branded for everyone to see. Every map available to me marks it as a massive regional park. BUT, if you want to walk around the lake, a very nice 20-something man in a fancy truck will stop you.
It's always a polite question at first, "Ma'am, would you mind staying on the trails in the public area?" I thought the lake was a public area. Then the demand comes next. "Ma'am you're going to have to leave."
The Department of Homeland Security has jurisdiction over this water storage we call a lake. This is the shot I took right after hearing I wasn't allowed to shoot the bridge from the other side of the lake because... terrorism and scary feelings.
Guess who is hiring someone with a boat to take me to the other side of the lake?
