1994 comedy Ace Ventura: Pet Detective is nowadays best known as the film that turned Jim Carrey into major Hollywood stare. In it he plays Miami private detective specialised for retrieving missing pets, and the plot shows how he is hired to find Snowflake, missing dolphin which serves as mascot for Miami Dolphins. Directed by Tom Shadyac, Ace Ventura is carried almost single-handedly by Carrey, who invests great talent , creativity and energy in order to make audience ignore many flaws within the script and poor characterisation. Carrey mostly succeeds in that task, justifying his future reign at the box office.
