An Adam and Eve Story...for the "Ink Well"

It was play time in the garden. You know...Eden?!

Adam was in a playful mood. Of course, I don't know when he isn't! He ran across lush green grass and found a frog happily jumping around while a little tiger cub laughed at it.

As any innocent child would have done, he picked it up, "Hello frog. How are you today?"

The frog, without missing a beat said, "I'm doing very well. Thank You. Today is a great day in paradise!"

Adam smiled and turned to Eve, "Eve, come see what the frog and tiger are doing!"

Eve skipped gleefully across the same field. "What are they doing, Adam?"

"Oh, they're just watching each other, bouncing, and prancing. Isn't this fun?!"

Eve was excited by it all. The tiger laughed and laughed, and an alligator came walking up. "Want to go on an adventure?"

Adam, Eve, the frog and the tiger all shouted, "Yay!"

The alligator climbed around through the flowers and the group followed while birds chirped happily around them. They walked through until they saw the stream on the eastern side of Eden. There they found some stepping stones and each took turns skipping across the stones from one side to the other. A fox came out and pondered aloud, "Does anyone want to follow me for a midday snack?"

Again, everyone shouted, "Yay!" You could be as loud as you wanted in Eden. Everyone enjoyed their time. There were all kinds of processions, spinning, jumping, and every animal smiled and laughed.

Adam even made a joke, "Hey, Eve...nice shoes, wanna make out?" Eve laughed, "I don't even know what that means" as she smiled back at him.

"Me neither," Adam said with a chuckle.

The fox took the whole crew on a trek around Eden. They opened holes in the ground, as no one had to dig anything. They played in the dirt and closed it back up. Flowers naturally sprang forth and kissed the sunlight. The fox led them to natural bridges that had waterfalls spring out beneath them and he said, "Let's slide down the waterfall!"

The alligator held hands with some ducks that were playing close by and they slid down the waterfalls together, smiling quite large as only alligators can. It was so cute. They were the best of pals! Eve sat at the top of the waterfall and a tarantula asked if he could go down the waterfall with her. "Oh Yes!" was her reply as the tarantula is known around Eden as being such a great pal to play with. Of course, they reached the bottom of the waterfall and as Eve sprang out of the water, her hair instantly dried and rested most beautifully, like always.

Adam grabbed her hand to go get something to eat. They rushed away giggling and spinning with their arms spread wide. Oh what glee. What rapture! Adam found some star fruit and some bananas. It was a fun feast.

Eve said to Adam as the light grew dim toward the end of the day, "Can we do this again tomorrow?" Adam, lying down and looking upward with his hands tucked behind his head said, "You bet!" Just then a polar bear and buffalo walked up and cozied up next to both Eve and Adam for a wonderful, comfortable night's rest.

What is the Ink Well?

The Ink Well is a short story community. This means we only accept short fiction. (Fiction means stories that came from your imagination, not from real life.)

This week's prompt:

This week's prompt is Three words: Shoes, mood, adventure.

How does a three-word prompt work? It's pretty simple! All you have to do is write a story that includes those three words! Start by letting the words roll around in your imagination. Think about how and why they might all integrate into one story. Then start writing!

I recommend you go here for their post on the rules and suggestions. It's a fun community for people who like to write stories and even more so for people who like to read them 😉
