"legalization" didn't actually legalize anything we did, it just overregulated it and pushed out anyone except a few elites and their buddies
This is a concept I teach to my students. When the government tries to 'regulate' something, what that typically does is create a pathway for cronyism and corruption wherein powerful elites can use the government to gain an unfair advantage and, in so doing, crush their current competition and preemptively eliminate future competition.
