"What is this"? The first time that we saw African Sacred Ibis birds in the shallows of the sea.
Has to be rare as we have always seen them inland and this was indeed a rare occasion. Oh yes, my camera was very happy to take all of the bird traffic here this morning.
Many bird species were present as usual.
Come and have a look.
In our two years here now we have never seen the Sacred Ibis (Threskiornis aethiopicus) at the sea before.
Yes, the Ibises were walking around in the surf and all of the other birds acted like normal.
Of course there were also all of the other birds around this morning.
Here an African Oystercatcher (Haematopus moquini) came passing by. It is the black bird at the back of the two seagulls.
A Little Egret (Egretta garzetta) also made his way past my camera.
A White breasted Cormorant (Phalacrocorax lucidus) also didn't mind having the Ibises around.
They were wet from the surf and spent some time to clean themselves.
Finally it was back home inland from their visit to the beach.
Over the mountain they went and they disappeared from sight. It was indeed amazing to see the Ibises at the beach, but it makes sense as surely they were seaching for bugs in the waves hahaha.
I don't know what one of them will do when an octopus grabs him.
All that I can say is that we were very pleased to see them.
And That's All Friends!
