Great Egrets are found in many a North American wetlands. Egrets are herons that have white feathers.
They can capture a fish with a deadly jab from their bills. I found these guys near Savanah, Georgia.
Great egrets almost became extinct during the late 1900's because they were hunted for their feathers.
They were one of the reasons that conservation groups such as Audubon were founded and laws were passed to protect birds.
