Quarantine Cuisines - Trying Out Baked Sushi and Cheezy Purple Yam Buns

So maybe most of us are now on the cusp of breaking out of the "quarantine season", while some could be yet again starting again, but what we really found out during these times of isolation is are hidden talent of eating more than what's necessary baking!

Not that I'm any kind of food connoisseur or anything, but with the trend of foods that suddenly popped out during those times, I couldn't help but get curious about all the hype (and soon regret it afterwards...)

Starting with what I called the "Cheezy Purple Yam" breads (but they're better known as Ube Cheese Pandesal), pandesal being a type of crumby bun that's pretty common in Filipino household's, usually as a form of breakfast coupled with a steaming mug of coffee. Now add in some of that purple goodness, then you have the infamous result of an Ube Cheese Pandesal! (the cheese is usually just inserted inside the buns pre-bake, so that's literally where the cheese comes from...)

They called this an "inverted" Ube Cheese Pandesal like, whut???

These homemade ones from a common friend are actually better than most though

My thoughts on this specific trend is that, if baked by the right bread baker, it could actually threathen the common existence of the good 'ole household pandesal-- though I have yet to taste anything as good, so our main buns still remain...

Another food trend that I discovered to be an absolute delight was the Baked Sushi (or Sushi Bake, whatever their sellers prefer to call them), and now I'm wondering why the local Japanese restaurants haven't jumped in with the hype by adding this to their menu of ramen noodles...

A world's load better than the creation of the purple buns, Baked Sushi is both as simple as prepping up a tray of Japanese rice, and as complex as coming up with an original topping that'll leave your customers coming back for more!

I think this was a bit too cheezy, but it still hit the spot so 4 ⭐ for the store!

Been coming back for this! Check out their FB Shop here <------

And that wraps up Foodie 'Choose'day for the week, find out on my next post what sort of goodies I'll end up discovering!
