Why California’s Move to Ban Gas-Powered Generators (and Lawn Equipment) Could Leave Californians in the Dark

California is committing energy suicide, and given that people rely on energy for just about everything, we shouldn’t be surprised by the toll this will take on human life.

I like the idea of electric lawn equipment. At least I like the idea of quieter, lower maintenance, and lighter equipment (well, lighter if you don't have to carry 100 pounds of batteries anyway). The problem is that the technology really just isn't there yet. Electric equipment is not as powerful as gas powered equipment and the battery life is not long enough, particularly if lawn care is your business. Forcing people to use it won't change that.

However, what is even worse is the ban on gas powered generators (like you could have electric ones or something). Nobody is out there using gas powered generators for the fun of it. Or not many people anyway. As someone who lives in Florida, I can tell you that gas powered generators can be a real life-saver when you lose power for a day, week or month because of a hurricane. I mean are we really going to change the climate by banning gas powered generators? Seems unlikely. Now if there is a small, affordable fusion powered generator you can pick up somewhere, I would love to know about it.
