Spectrum Economics Line Up for November

Hi Everyone,

Thumb.jpg

It is the month of November. This month Spectrum Economics is going to attempt to post every day.

What type of posts am I going to include?

  • Economics is Everywhere: Going on Holiday
  • Trip to Uluru: Economist Perspective
  • Dark Side of Economics: War
  • Scarcity (Parts 3 and 4)
  • World Vegan Day Melbourne
  • My dogs take a walk
  • Dtube videos
  • Contests (Memes, Guess the video, and Puzzles)
  • Economic Concepts
  • Vegan Economics

Economics is Everywhere

Economics is Everywhere is a series of posts that I have been putting up that explains how we apply economics in our everyday life and how economics can be used to explain our behaviour. Posts so far have included:

  • The average work day
  • Trip to the supermarket
  • Going on a date
  • Working out at the gym

I have only one new economics is everywhere post planned for the month of November. This should be a very interesting one. I’ll be discussing how we apply economics to going on holiday. The post will discuss determining the ideal place to go, what arrangements that need to be made prior to leaving, what to do when arriving, etc.

Trip to Uluru

I went to Uluru in late August with my sister. Uluru and Kata Tjuta are absolutely amazing places to visit. In this post I will talk about my experience visiting Uluru and Kata Tjuta. I will talk about the places themselves. I will discuss the options in regards to visiting these two amazing places. I will talk about the food available at the resorts.

Dark Side of Economics

My dark side of economics investigates how economics is used to manipulate the people rather than help them. So far I have written posts and produced videos that have covered the following areas.

  • General Introduction
  • Education
  • Health
  • Infrastructure Investment Manipulation using cost benefit analysis
  • Does Democracy Exist?

This next dark side of economics post gets even darker. This post investigates the threat of war and actual war. The post covers how the threat of war is used as a fear mongering technique. How war is used to promote the objectives of the elite. How money can be made from war and how money can be made rebuilding after war. The video also considers the movement to remove freedom as an offered solution to prevent war.

World Vegan Melbourne

I am attending World Vegan Melbourne. I will not be speaking at this event but I will be there taking photographs and capturing the event on film. I will provide a quick run day of the day’s activities. I will try to pick out relevant activities that fit into the work I am doing with Vegan Economics.

My dogs take a walk

In this post I will depart from my usual more serious economics posts to talk about two of my dogs (Mango and Remy). I will include a video of me taking them for a walk in the forest. The aim is for my follows to get to know me a little better as well as my best friends, the dogs. I hope you enjoy.

Dtube Videos

I have my own YouTube channel ‘Spectrum Economics’. I like to bring these videos over to Dtube as well. I like to give the Steemit community the option of reading my posts or watching my videos or both. The videos sometimes target the same subject matter but at a slightly different angle. I would recommend watching the videos in addition to reading the posts.

Contests

I like to put up a weekly contest. Most of my contests are puzzle contests. I also sometimes include a meme contest. For November I will have four contests. I will post two puzzle contests, one meme contest, and guess the video contest. I will also post the answers and winners of contests in separate posts. Most contests will award half the total payout of the post to the winner, so keep a lookout for these contests.

Economic Concepts

In November I will be starting another series. This series will introduce and explain some basic economic concepts. The posts will briefly explain the theory supporting these concepts as well as how these concepts are applied in the real world. The concepts explained in this series in the month of November are as follows:

  • Utility
  • Demand, supply, and equilibrium
  • Specialisation
  • Substitute vs. Complementary goods
  • Giffen Goods
  • Auctions
  • Game Theory
  • Partial Equilibrium vs. General Equilibrium

This series should work hand-in-hand with the economics is everywhere series. Instead of focusing on activities, the economic concept series focuses on the theories that support our activities.

Vegan Economics

Vegan Economics is a term I have come up with to describe a different approach to economics that expands beyond our perceptions as human beings but to the perceptions of all sentient beings. Economics is almost entirely focused on the world from the perspective of humans. In many cases it is assumed to essentially be focused around money, materialism, and output efficiency.

I am currently writing a book with the working title ‘Vegan Economics’. I will include four posts in the month of November that will cover some of the topics that I am including in the book. The topics that I will most likely cover off in these posts are as follows:

  • My story to becoming vegan
  • Quality of life of animals in captivity vs. in the wild.
  • The key industries where animals are being abused
  • Horse racing

These topics are still subject to change depending on my progression with the book in these areas. These areas will also be updated for eventual release in the final version of the book. I will continue to add more posts relating to my book in December and the months to come until the release of the book. I am excited about taking you on this journey with me.

Conclusion

This takes me to the end of my first post of the month of November. I hope you enjoy the line-up I have for this month. The table below contains the proposed release dates of the posts I have described above. The schedule is still subject to change but I will try to follow it as closely as possible. I look forward to getting them out there for you.
