El cerro Maracas se encuentra ubicado entre la parroquia Arenas y la parroquia San Fernando del municipio Montes del estado Sucre aquí en Venezuela. Es emblemático para la zona ya que se destaca como el más grande en las proximidades al caserío de Arenas. >The Maracas hill is located between the Arenas parish and the San Fernando parish of the Montes municipality of the Sucre state here in Venezuela. It is emblematic for the area as it stands out as the largest in the vicinity of the hamlet of Arenas.

A sus pies están las comunidades de Bejucal y Maraca y por la zona posterior se encuentra Río San Juan, lindo pueblito de montaña, su río del mismo nombre posee pozas de agua de formaciones geológicas únicas. Es por ello que la visita a este río es casi obligatoria para la finalización de esta experiencia. >At its feet are the communities of Bejucal and Maraca and in the back is Río San Juan, a beautiful mountain town, its river of the same name has pools of water with unique geological formations. That is why a visit to this river is almost mandatory for the completion of this experience.

Para los visitantes, la experiencia de ascender a cerro Maracas es reconfortante no sólo desde el punto de vista físico por el esfuerzo que requiere sino también porque brinda ciertas sensaciones de libertad y a la vez permite apreciar paisajes hermosos de todo su entorno, como lo es el del valle de Cumanacoa y más próximo, el de la población de Arenas. >For visitors, the experience of ascending Maracas hill is comforting not only from the physical point of view due to the effort it requires but also because it provides certain sensations of freedom and at the same time allows to appreciate beautiful landscapes of all its surroundings, such as the from the valley of Cumanacoa and closer, that of the town of Arenas.

Como parte de los estudios propios de los jóvenes que asisten al Liceo Bolivariano “Creación Arenas”, la Escuela Nacional “Arenas” y otras del municipio en sus áreas de Ciencias Naturales, deben realizarse salidas de campo a ésta y otras zonas, con la finalidad de desarrollar varias actividades de investigación científica; observar diferentes formas de vida presentes, entre vegetales, hongos y animales; aves, mamíferos, reptiles, insectos; pretendiendo reforzar el amor y respeto por el ambiente y la naturaleza. >As part of the own studies of the young people who attend the Bolivarian High School "Creation Arenas", the National School "Arenas" and others of the municipality in their areas of Natural Sciences, field trips must be made to this and other areas, with the aim of to develop various scientific research activities; observe different forms of life present, among plants, fungi and animals; birds, mammals, reptiles, insects; intending to reinforce love and respect for the environment and nature.

El espacio es idóneo para practicar algunos deportes extremos como ciclismo de montaña, volar en parapentes y otros, lamentablemente en esta región del país estos deportes no están muy extendidos. >The space is ideal for practicing some extreme sports such as mountain biking, paragliding and others, unfortunately in this region of the country these sports are not very widespread.

En lo particular me encanta la experiencia de subirlo, ya que me traslada en el tiempo y me regresa a mi niñez cuando íbamos un grupo de varios primos y amigos a esperar los primeros rayos de luz de la mañana en la cima del cerro. Es en ese preciso momento cuando la neblina que cubre todo alrededor se tiñe de amarillo y naranja y crea una sensación similar a estar entre las nubes. Generalmente salíamos desde muy temprano en la madrugada para contemplar ese espectáculo y mientras eso sucedía teníamos la dicha de desayunar con esa vista de fondo. No sé por qué, pero al estar lo más arriba posible provocaba gritarle al horizonte a ver si regresaba el tenue eco. ¡Se sentía a libertad! >In particular, I love the experience of climbing it, since it takes me back in time and takes me back to my childhood when a group of several cousins and friends went to wait for the first rays of light in the morning at the top of the hill. It is at that precise moment when the mist that covers everything around it turns yellow and orange and creates a sensation similar to being among the clouds. Generally we went out very early in the morning to contemplate that show and while that was happening we had the joy of having breakfast with that view in the background. I don't know why, but being as high up as possible caused him to shout at the horizon to see if the faint echo would return. It felt like freedom!
