Ecency is probably the most comprehensive Hive dapp with web site, desktop application and phone app. Its phone app is the most used app for a general Hive experience with notification system and all. They have a relatively easy build sign un process and creating Hive accounts with just a mail verification.
Ecency has been around for a long time, and it has went trough a process of rebranding when the Hive fork happened from its previous version eSteem. Ecency has been building for years with no hype around the app, but just providing a nice experience, especially on the mobile side.
Let’s take a look at some of the data.
Here we will take a look at the activity on the platform, the overall number of posts and comments, and the number of users. The top content creators for the last 30 days will be presented as well.
The period that we will be looking at is from the creation of Hive, Apr 2020 till now.
Posts
First let us see the number of posts coming from the Ecency.
Here is the chart.
Ecency started to operate on Hive in July 2020, a few months after the Hardfork. The post number went up to 200 a day and it’s been going up since then reaching an ATH of 1k in the recent period. The biggest growth was in the summer of 2021.
In the last months we can see some flattening out, probably due to the crypto prices.
Comments
The chart above was only about posts.
What about comments?
Here is the number of comments made per day from Ecency.
The comments number has seen even bigger increase than the posts. Recently they have reached a 5k comments per day made from Ecency.
Posts and Comments`
When we combine the posts and comments on one chart we get this.
We can see the clear up trend in the numbers of posts and the even stronger uptrend in the numbers of comments. The ratio of comments to post is around 5 to 1 in the last period.
When we plot the numbers on a monthly timeframe we get this.
A similar trend as in the previous charts with a clearer representation of the growth in the last months.

How about the numbers of the authors on the Ecency. How many accounts are posting?

The up trend in the last month is recognizable here as well. In January 2022 there has been a total of 4k unique accounts that posted from Ecency, up from the 2k in the summer of 2021.
Next the number of unique authors that posted from Ecency. These are authors that posted directly through the frontend.
The number of unique Ecency authors is showing continuous growth.
There is a total of 16k unique authors that have used Ecency to post. In the last months there has been more then 1k new unique authors trying the frontend for the first time.

The top accounts have posted more then 100 posts in a month from Ecency.
Ecency started its journey on the Hive blockchain with a few months delay, but it has growth since then. The biggest growth has been in the summer of 2021. At the moment there is around 800 posts per day made from Ecency with 4k monthly active users. Since the launch a total of 16k accounts have used Ecency.
