Tucked away amid the trees and nestled amongst the hills of the Catskills is Ashokan Reservoir, a feat of engineering that provides water for the city's residents over 90 miles away. While the causeway is closed to cars and other motorized vehicles, it is open to pedestrians and cyclists. At every point of this easily walkable path, visitors get an awe-inspiring eyeful of the beautiful (and low-key underrated) Catskill Mountains.
