@Steemit and similar interfaces like @steempeak or @steeveapp have portfolios of uniqueness that far outstrip current counterparts such as Facebook and Twitter. It’s decentralized on one of the swiftest blockchains which enables social bloggers to earn through "upvotes" - similar to "likes" on Facebook that carry value and incentive for creating new content. Steem blockchain-based blogging and social media apps have given autonomy to their communities and so stand as viable “forks” that are moving farther and farther away from current social media standards. This is good.

Ingenuity derived from the community has established an array of capabilities both on and off chain, such as @dTube, @dSound, Steem KeyChain, and Steemchat to name a few. All are awesome community based niceties. However, they all lack one critical factor: PROFIT.

This essay is to share our impression that profit is a criticality of success for Steemit if it wants to make that transition from good to great. Profit is what the Facebook and Twitter giants have and is wholly absent in Steemit or the steem ecosystem in general.

Imagine if Steemit Inc. was actually profitable at $75 Million per year!! Be assured, the price of STEEM would not be at current levels; even despite the crypto bear market. We envision the Steem Blockchain to host a wide distribution of for-profit enterprises. It must, as there can be no other way to complete the “fork” away from the centralized social media Barrons. We invite the Steemit community to start embracing the value for accountability concept, also known as profit. Profit is not a threat to a community but rather an asset. It thus can co-mingle very well into the Steemit establishment.
