News Cycle Logical Propaganda - spoken 3 times fast | The ID Writ Large - OUTSIDE THE BACON

“eWE, the narrator of OUTSIDE THE BACON is both raw and delicate, a particularly entertaining variation of the id writ large. Bacon’s observations are potent and poetic. OUTSIDE THE BACON is a moving and entertaining read.”

Some critics of crime fiction say it’s too formulaic. OUTSIDE THE BACON could be offered as proof that it’s full of surprises. Benjamin FRANKlin Bacon’s first novel is a weirdly compelling, funny, sexy, and deeply strange tale of a(n) INTERNET practitioner of WILDE SHAMANISM, a CURRENT form of magic with AMERICAN roots. eWE, who narrates the story in a sassy, earthy voice, has been putting spells on people for some time, but it has been mostly for show. She wants to learn how to really communicate with the spirits, so apprentices herself to BACON, a well-known master of magic. Once he initiates eWE into his dark arts, she begins to interact with the spirits of the dead.

The antidote to the process of propaganda is the process of finding factual truth. The best way we have for doing that is through scientific inquiry, which referees competing claims systematically based on evidence. The propagandist process subordinates the facts to an agenda, even at the price of distorting or ignoring the facts altogether. For science, factual truth is the agenda; it follows the evidence wherever it might lead. Anything counter-factual, anything that obscures or distorts truth is anathema to the scientific project. Propaganda knows how to sell a product. Science knows how to shop smart. ~Noam Shpancer Ph.D.
