Another HBD Stabilizer Rant

This post is an excerpt of part of my rant in the hive.blue chat HBD channel.. Enjoy.

If the stabilizer hasn't really been able to put a dent in wrangling the pegged price into within reason at however many thousands of dollars a day it's dumping on it vs the free market... Then further stabilization would only begin to occur somewhat as intended, but however only in the hypothetical situation in where no additional HBD orders on any market/book were able to be created.. to give the stabilizer experiment time to widdle through the buy walls..

But of course, this is an impossible or incredibly unlikely situation that no more HBD orders anywhere would be created.

Pissing into the Wind?

Not saying trying to stabilize HBD is the crypto equivalent of pissing into the wind.. I think revisiting the pegged currency is a must, something to be perfected for HF26 if we were smart about it.
The stabilizer experiment though, as a method of attempting to fix our pegged token, is probably wishful thinking or insanity, granted I like the spirit of it..

Given the market can swing far above or below orders of magnitude beyond whatever measly percentage the stabilizer experiment is able to compensate for on a given set sane duration..
I think only an overhaul is going to make much of a difference to restore HBD price pegging. We've observed this architecture of peg here on HIVE and prior steem, we know this pegging code is gimped, not sure why we're treating it like a stripper and throwing money at it to take it "home" (back to roughly $1). The current HBD pegging ways aren't something you want to bring home to mom..

As a method of pumping HIVE price a little bit, I think it's done some good. In the method of helping the peg I think it's only a marginal improvement over the existing flawed functions, but at the cost of proposals getting dropped to provide next to no intended benefit might be a move the wrong way.
