Almost everywhere in the world the time has come. Nature has to give way to people. So also here in Sri Lanka. For many centuries one could only drive on the coastal roads through the country, or the narrow roads in the mountains, for which one needed really long for short distances.
That changes just here on Sri Lanka. Motorways are being built across the country, there is not much going on on the roads yet. I've seen it a few times, it's like being on the roads at night in Europe.
But that will certainly change in the next few years. At some point the motorways here will also be full and filled with traffic jams. But that's how it is, the progress that nature has to pay for us.
Fast überall auf der Welt ist es soweit. Die Natur muss den Menschen weichen. So auch hier in Sri Lanka. Viele Jahrhunderte konnte man nur über die Küstenstraßen durch das Land fahren, oder die engen Straßen in den Bergen, wofür man für kurze Strecken wirklich lange brauchte.
Das ändert sich gerade hier auf Sri Lanka. Es werden hier Autobahnen quer durch das Land gebaut, viel ist noch nicht los auf den Straßen. Ich habe es ein paar mal gesehen, es ist als wenn in Europa man Nachts auf den Straßen unterwegs ist.
Doch das wird sich in den nächsten Jahren bestimmt ändern. Irgendwann sind die Autobahnen hier auch voll und auch mit Stau besetzt. Aber so ist es, der Fortschritt, den die Natur für uns bezahlen muss.
