Endgame

"Never let a good crisis go to waste" is a phrase credited to Winston Churchill in the mid-1940s, long before Rahm Emanuel used the expression during the recession of 2008, but they both meant to say the same thing: there's no time like during a crisis to enact changes that would never get the approval of the general public in "normal" times...

Naomi Klein called it "The Shock Doctrine", a deliberate strategy used in neoliberalism, centered on the exploitation of national crises (disasters or upheavals) to establish controversial and questionable policies, while citizens are too distracted (emotionally and physically) to engage and develop an adequate response, and resist effectively. Although this "shock doctrine" is traditionally intended to transition a planned economy or developmentalist economy to a free market economy through sudden and dramatic neoliberal reform, it's the same thing; use a crisis, manufactured or naturally occurring, to implement rules and laws that would be regarded as highly unpopular in normal times.

No matter what country you live in, try to think back to the 2008 recession and remember what new rules and laws were implemented, and you'll most probably discover two things: 1) those new rules and laws were sold as a temporary measure, just to get you through the crisis, and 2) those rules and laws are still in place. Past experience doesn't breed much confidence when we ask ourselves "when will life return to normal" now that we've been living in quarantine for over a year now; al lot, if not most of the temporary measures implemented to fight covid-19 will probably turn out to be permanent. This crisis, like all crises in recent memory, have made the rich and powerful richer and more powerful, while the 99 percent pays that bill.

Make no mistake: while the story of previous crises were all contained withing nations' borders, we're now experiencing the shock doctrine on a global scale. And much of the increased control over us has been gained through the rise of the global digital networks, infrastructures and software which are all in the private hands of a few ultra-powerful tech-giants. "A Brave New World" is right around the corner, and for the ultra-rich gathered in the yearly convention at Davos it can not arrive soon enough. Imagine your home, and all appliances in it, connected to the global digital highway. You won't actually own your home or the appliances in it, as the exclusive Davos club will have realized their dream of a moneyless society, with everything being permanently owned by privately owned corporations, and you renting everything through the "social credits" you earn by being a good consumer and a law abiding citizen. Facial recognition software and RFID sensors will be omnipresent so that "the powers that be" can reward you with social credits when you play by their rules, and freeze your credit-account when you don't...

And no, they won't implant a chip in your arm when you get your vaccination. They don't have to, as you're already hooked on the mobile phone you carry everywhere you go and which contains all your social and business relations... And it has a camera and a microphone too; they can't shoot that up your arm... If you think this is all science-fiction, think again. Or watch the below linked video and then think again.
