27 are dead, at least 60 wounded, including children. Killed by Israeli airstrikes into civilian neighborhood of Gaza. Known among the dead are two siblings, an eleven year old, and a seven year old. They were killed while at play in the street.

I have seen no coverage of this on DeepDives, or Hive as a whole. This is probably the most important story going on right now. The anxiety of East Jerusalem can be felt across the Arab world, and the implications of what is currently stirring could spark major conflicts across the globe.
As always, Israel justified this as a response to rocket attacks by Hamas, but as always, they are beyond unproportionable. Only one Israeli was "lightly injured". That is all it takes to justify the slaying of children.
Since the 2nd of May, Israel has again illegally evicted 26 Palestinian families, from their homes in Sheikh Jarrah. They re refugees of the 1947-49 forced exile of 2/3rds of the population. At the time this was Jordanian land, but has since been annexed by Israel. This is how they justify removing elderly women from their lifelong homes.
Israel has increased it's aggression since the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan. Israeli forces have violently stormed al-Aqsa mosque three times in as many days, firing live ammo into the crowds of worshipers. This is the 3rd holiest site to all sects of Islam, on the most revered day of the Islamic calendar, and should be outright condemned from anyone claiming to believe in freedom of religion.
The Palestinian people have responded by taking to the streets in great numbers. The have had tear gas, and live rounds fired into their crowds, but a fire seems to have been lit beneath them, and they don't seem to be backing down. The response from the global community has been to denounce it as usual. But Israel historically ignores calls for peace, and even UN resolutions with almost no consequence. Their decades long occupation is Illegal, and yet the global community does nothing to hold them accountable. Many nations, like the US, send them billions every year to wage these horrific ethnic cleansings.

Tensions in this area are fiery. This may be the large escalation to the conflict many people have been expecting for some time. Israel is once again stepping up aggression against some of the poorest people of the world. Are we going to again stand by condemning, yet still finance their wars? The time to end US foreign aid to Israel is now. We cannot stand aside and watch another ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. Spread this info across your communities, and across Hive.
